What to expect when starting therapy
Getting Started
I offer a free 15-minute introductory call via Zoom. This gives us a chance to briefly talk through what’s bringing you to therapy and see if it feels like the right fit.
If you’d prefer, you’re also welcome to book an initial session to begin more fully.
Initial Session
The initial session lasts 50 minutes and provides a space for you to talk about what’s been going on and what’s bringing you to therapy. We may begin to explore patterns, experiences, or difficulties you’re facing, as well as what you might want from the process. This is a collaborative conversation, and you’re welcome to ask questions or raise any thoughts along the way.
Ongoing Sessions
Each session lasts 50 minutes and offers a consistent space for reflection and exploration. Together, we focus on what feels most important - whether that’s understanding difficult emotions, exploring patterns, or making sense of past and present experiences. Sessions usually begin weekly. Over time, and if it feels appropriate, we may move to fortnightly sessions.
A Note on the Process
There’s no pressure to have everything figured out before starting. We work at a pace that feels manageable, allowing understanding and change to develop over time.
